Christmas Carol Sing Along

Nearly 100 people enjoyed our Christmas Carol Sing Along at the Memorial Hall. The Abbey Gateway Orchestra was on top form and Annie Brewster as Master of Ceremonies entertained us with some surprisingly good Christmas Cracker jokes and her usual organisation of the audience participation of the Twelve Days of Christmas. With mulled wine and minced pies in the interval, it was a great way to start Christmas and the bonus was that we raised over £400.

Fantastic Fun at the John Bunyan Family Day.

We had a really successful day on Saturday, all together we raised about £2,000 which means WCG will benefit by about £1,000 and The Beech Hyde Association will also benefit by £1,000.
Everyone we spoke to said that they were having a lovely time and it was a really lovely event. So a big thank you too all who came along to support it.
It was great to be able to work alongside The Beech Hyde Association, and we would like to pass our thanks on to Jannine Oxley, Chair of the BHA, for all of her and her team’s hard work. Also to the John Bunyan for hosting the event and helping to raise the profile of the two charities.

Wheathampstead Village Day 2015

We had a lovely day at Wheathampstead Village Day, even the weather didn’t stop people from coming. The plant stall, run by Audrey Chapman and Marion Oxley,  was very popular and we sold a lot of plants, helping us to raise a fantastic £288.00 on the day.

Thank you to all those who stopped by and special thanks to the volunteers who helped us set up the gazebos and arrange the stall.

AGM

Thank you to all who attended our AGM on Tuesday 7th July.  We would like to pass on our thanks to our special guest, Stephen Tudway,  who spoke at length about the Credit Union which has now been  established in Wheathampstead.  If you would like to find about a little more about this subject, please have a look at their website  http://www.stadcu.org.

Wheathampstead Village Weekend 11-12th July 2015

We will be holding our annual plant stall on Sunday 12th July during the Wheathampstead village weekend Celebrations.  Come along to Marford playing fields and join in the fun, have a look at our stall and find out more about our charity.

Home Support

We have been involved with a few referrals recently assisting with a deep clean in a house where the tenant was unable to do them herself. We also provided good new second hand beds  (financial assistance) to a local family who were desperate because their children’s beds were no longer suitable.

John Bunyan Family Fun Day

We are pleased to have been invited to help with the running and benefit from the John Bunyan Family Fun Day along with the Beech Hyde Association. It is on Saturday 12th September from 12-5pm and should be a great day. Please check back here for more details soon. John Bunyan 12th
