Wheathampstead Friends has been set up by Wheathampstead Community Group and Wheathampstead
Churches Together. The aim is to try to reach out to people who feel lonely and isolated for many
and varied reasons. Sometimes people feel that it would be wrong to burden others
with problems but Wheathampstead Friends is there to help anyone in need. We offer visiting and where
appropriate specialised bereavement counselling.
Our Aims are:
-
To identify individuals or families who may be lonely or isolated by
encouraging referrals from individual
people, professionals or groups in the community.
-
To encourage people to volunteer to become part of a network which will offer help
through visiting people for a chat or possibly the
occasional practical job.
-
To offer support and perhaps
some training for volunteers to enable them to feel confident about the
help they can give.
-
Where appropriate to offer bereavement support by friends who are also members of
the Wheathampstead Bereavement Support Group which is
affiliated to St. Albans Bereavement Network.
