WHAT IS WHEATHAMPSTEAD COMMUNITY GROUP (WCG)?

 Wheathampstead Community Group

Our local village of Wheathampstead is steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

More importantly, what makes anywhere a nicer place to live is the people around you.

The Wheathampstead Community Group (WCG), formerly the Wheathampstead Welfare Group, has been serving the village of Wheathampstead and surrounding areas for nearly 40 years.

Are they prepared to lend a helping hand when you need one? Do they have time to stop, listen and chat with you?

Wheathampstead Community Group is a registered charity that aims to provide help and support to any resident of the village.

This very active volunteer group has been helping people in the community in many ways:

We organise transport for people who cannot get to hospital, doctors appointments or collect prescriptions.
We provide an Internet Cafe at the The Library at the Memorial Hall every Tuesday morning
We try to support people who are going through difficult times by discussing areas of possible help.
We may in certain circumstances give small grants where there is a specific need.
We arrange lunch meetings for people who may find it difficult to socialise or are housebound.
We liaise with other voluntary and statutory agencies and lobby on specific issues affecting Wheathampstead residents.

WCG is supported by over 50 volunteers with a wide range of skills.

If you would like to get involved in any of our activities, help with setting up new projects or just find out more about the WCG contact Marion Oxley on 01582 834238 or
